MONTREAL, Canada, celebrates its 375th anniversary this year and the PanamaPLUS Foundation is planning its own celebration at Panama City’s one and only Montreal style restaurant.
The first days of spring in Montreal will be a little chilly this year with snow in the forecast but CanadaPLUS is planning it’s own warm welcome to the official start of the season at Canadian owned Solomon’s Restaurant on Tuesday March 21
No one goes home hungry from Solomons and service is Canadian warm and friendly.
Here’s an opportunity to count your Panama weather blessings, sample specially imported Montreal smoked meats, revisit or discover poutine and meet old and new friends while being serenaded on the patio with song and music on the patio by a fabulous group led by classical guitarist John Carney, fresh from the Boquete Jazz and Blues Festival.
The Montreal comfort food samplings include lentil soup and pea soup, poutine ( *if it’s new to you, see below), smoked meat sandwiches, and chicken and meat sliders, served warm on custom made rye bread and onion rings made from scratch. You can slather your meaty samples with a custom made mustard shipped in from Toronto.
*Poutine a l dish from Montreal classic and authentic, ppyatoes hand-cut and fried twice so they are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, then topped with custom made cheese curds, home-made beef gravy (mushroom gravy for vegetarians).
The evening includes a starter glass of wine and is topped off with a surprise dessert.
There’s a cash bar, door prizes and yes they have Canadian Coors.
The price for a fulfilling night out is $20 members, $25 nonmembers (tax and tips included).
