IF YOU ARE in the mood for some “spine tingling” entertainment before you settle in to the shop-till-you-drop routine leading up to Christmas, it will be waiting for you at the Theatre Guild of Ancon (TGA) mid-October through November, and what better time to experience a ghost story.

Giancarlo Benedetti & Rob Getman who last year brought the 1991 iconic “Point Break” action movie to the TGA  and translated a film centered around surfing  into a successful stage production, have teamed up to direct and produce “The Woman in Black.”

The framework of the play is unusual says  Benedetti:

Arthur Kipps, a retired lawyer, hires an actor to tutor him in recounting to his family and friends a terrifying story that has long troubled him.

His story begins as he is summoned to attend the funeral of a client, Mrs Alice Drablow, an elderly recluse who resided in a far flung corner  of Britain. There he catches sight of the woman in black, a young woman with a wasted face dressed all in black, the mere mention of whom terrifies the local townsfolk. Arthur continues on to Eel Marsh House, the home of Mrs. Drablow to gather her relevant legal documents.

Proud and solitary, Eel Marsh House surveys the windswept reaches of the salt marshes beyond Nine Lives Causeway. Arthur makes his way to the home, unaware of the tragic secrets which lie hidden behind the shuttered windows.

There he again sees the young woman dressed all in black at the graveyard and he is convinced that she is a ghost, but he is unconvinced that the woman is a danger to him. As he enters the house a creeping sense of unease takes hold of Arthur and the feeling is deepens even more by his remembrance the reluctance of the locals to talk of the woman in black ... and the terrible events surrounding her presence.
The Woman in Black adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from the book by Susan Hill and the producer—director team have placed it in good hands to ensure your spine really gets  the genuine tingle with talented TGA actors HB Twohy as Arthur Kipps and Federico del Bono as the actor.

The play will be staged October 16-18, 23-25 & 30-1.
