For Colombian born  artist Laura Baker. corals  are “an alternate world, internal and versatile.".

Those of us  who have viewed coral reefs  while snorkeling or sitting  in glass bottomed boats off the coast of Panama or the Caribbean islands  would agree, but might wonder how well  the visual impact experienced at close quarters while the coral still lives in its natural environment, can be translated to canvas.

You will be able to judge for yourself from March 13 to April 6 at the Alegra Galleria where a collection of her works will form an exhibition “Corales.”

For art critic Marilina Vergara Polo writing in La Prensa “The show is an explosion of light and color. It's like taking a dive team and dive into the depths of the most fascinating and rich aquatic world.”
Baker was born in Cartagena, Colombia and now lives in Panama and New York and has little daily relationship with the sea but remains close to marine wildlife issues. She will be present on Wednesday March 13, at 7:00 pm at the opening of her second exhibition at Allegro Gallery
With her series "Coral" The artist "continues his investigation of color, playing with the relationship between values and saturations, to create unique optical compositions," says the press release from the gallery.
