Each bus in Panama’s Metro fleet is to be equipped with a GPS global positioning system) to monitor operations by the My Bus operators.

Roberto Moreno, deputy director of the Transit Authority (ATTT), said that the system will monitor travel times by vehicle unit, frequency of buses, location and routes.
The National Economic Council approved an additional $5 million to the ATTT for the project. According to Moreno, the GPS will be acquired by the State.
The recent operation of traffic cameras was suspended after two weeks amid allegations of an “insider contract” that awarded the contractor 60% of all fines collected.
