Another chance to mix and match with Canadians and those who want to know more about Panama and its people is coming up on Thursday (Septemvber 9) at Oldies restaurant on Calle 39.
At the monthly social you will not only be able to sample some of the best pub food in the city, and get your early beers at a discount, but will also hear details of upcoming programs including a night with a Panamanian lawyer, who will guide you through some of the intricacies of local legislation ranging from property rights, to car accidents and making a will (don’t think the one you made at home will do the trick if you live here).
It will also be only one month to the date of the most important event on the Canadian Association’s calendar, the Thanksgiving Dinner, which this year will be donating proceeds to Fanlyc, the Fundacion Amigos del Ninos con Leucemia y Cancer.
Thursday will the perfect time to ensure you secure a ticket and decide who you want socialize with.
The event will be at the Sheraton Atlapa Hotel, and will be attended by the Canadian, British and French, ambassadors, and the co-founder of the Toronto Film Festival, Henk Van Der Kolk, and his daughter Yolanda, a renowned Canadian artist, who has just finished a Canadian landscape which sill be auctioned during the dinner. There are door prizes and numerous tombola prizes totaling more than $5,000. A reception with a cash bar will start at 7 p.m. and dinner, preceded by a turkey carving by Canadian Ambassador, Patricial Langan-Torrell, and there will be musical entertainment throughout the evening.
