PROFITS at Tocumen International Airport fell following privatization moves by the previous administration headed by Juan Carlos Pino Between April and June the terminal reported expenses of $23 million compared to14.8 million disbured January to March.

The increase can be explained by contracts awarded by the administration of, Pino former manager of the air terminal, after the grant of contracts for maintenance services previously carried out by airport staff reports La Prensa
Between 2013 and 2014 Tocumen, SA privatized cleaning services, glass cleaning and maintenance of green areas, work not related to the main business: the movement of passengers and aircraft.
The privatizing had a direct impact on profit Tocumen at the end of the first semester. Profits fell from $20.4 million to $11.8 million.
The current Tocumen management is reviewing the three contracts and does not rule out a renegotiation to reduce the burden to the airport.
Given the reduced flow of capital Tocumen management has to resort to bank financing in order to pay the advances due for the construction of the south terminal.
