Fourth Transmission Line Could Cost $480 million

  PANAMA'S Electricity Transmission Company (Etesa)  said it plans to put out to tender surveying services this year and the construction of a fourth transmission line next year.

Etesa this year expects to tender surveying and management of environmental permits required for the development of the project that aims to transport electricity from production centers to areas of high demand.

"... The fourth line will start off in Chiriqui Grande, passes through Ngäbe-Bugle on the Atlantic side, for about 100 km, possibly coming through the two reservoirs. The other option would be through Colon, down the coast" Gustavo Adolfo deputy at Etesa told  Panamaamerica.com.

"... The line is to be designed to have a special voltage of 500,000 volts, increasing system capacity and reliability of Etesa. It will have an initial distance of 300 kilometers."
