Business Execs against sale of state assets

Panama’s Association of Business Executives (Apede) has added its voice to those opposing the sale of government shares in Company’s like Cable and Wireless.

Felix Cuevas, current president of the Association reiterated on Tuesday June 26 that his organization disagrees with the sale of state shares in joint ventures.

Cuevas who is seeking re-election said he also disagrees with the government’s  handling of the theme of the Fifth Chamber of the Supreme Court.

The Association has rejected the sale of the assets of the Colon Free Zone, said Cuevas on KW Continente on Tuesday, June 26.

" At any time There has been nothing that we believe may be harmful to the interests of the country on which we fail to speak out, demanding that things be done with transparency and accountability," he said.

Cuevas said that the Association not only rejected the sale of state assets but also gave some recommendations for the last  two years of the Martinelli government which needs to reprogram its investment to be able to carry put projects already underway.

Cuevas said that starting  new works that  would not be finished would compromise the budget of the government  that comes to power.
