Petaquilla Minerals has restarted production at its gold mine in Molejón, Colón. Production was halted on Aug. 17 when a containment pond was close to overflowing.
Tthe company confirmed that the mine is close to reaching full production, which is about 6,000 ounces of gold monthly.
The company was allowed to resume production after it finished work on a second containment pond. The ponds are used to treat water contaminated with cyanide to keep it from escaping into the local water supply.
